Every time we see a gig at #mainstagedenbosch it’s a Clash of the Titans type bill with metal heavyweights. Today was no exception. #nails #exodus #carcass and #kreator shared the stage and all dropped head banging tunes one after another. We thought Carcass gave a particularly great performance.
Weird how life is. You don’t get any live #grindcore for ages then two festivals come one after another. After #grindhoven we went to #thecave for Grindsterdam featuring #blindtothebars #my_minds_mine and a second serving of Japanese grind from #kandarivas who were in Eindhoven the night prior and have now reached the end of their mini EU tour. We loved it. Who knew #taikodrums and #grindcore mix so well?
#grindcore doesn’t receive the attention it deserves. Luckily the #grindhoven festival in, well Eindhoven obviously, puts the spotlight on that musical genre across the globe. The 2026 edition gave the stage to #goreforcev #vominoir #kandarivas #whoresnation #blockheads #plf #haemorrhage and #schirencplayspungentstench All of it was top notch. Crowd surfers showed that yes bodies can fly.
Another evening with lots of gigs within easy reach. This time we were at the very foggy #p60 in Amstelveen to witness Norwegian #blackmetal royalty #gorgoroth accompanied by #patristic #tyrmfar and #lomsk This kicked serious ass.
Several metal gigs are happening this weekend in close proximity to each other. We went to #MusicOn for an evening of #deathmetal and #thrashmetal with i#stigmatized #anomic and #sabiendas Solid performances from the underground.
Day four of #athousandlostcivilizations managed to outdo the other three days, with #erbeetazhak #venefixion (best rendition of Chapel of Ghouls this side of the Atlantic) #beyondman #kringa #obliteration #the_true_possession and finally Canada’s number one cultural export, #Blasphemy In short, a great slice of the #deathmetal and #blackmetal scene.
Day three of #athousandlostcivilizations in Brussels had the pedal to the metal from start to finish. We saw #terrifiant #profanation #owlswoodsgraves #herzog #volahn and #misthyrming Lots of quality acts from the underground that we had wanted to see for some time.
Day two of #athousandlostcivilizations went from #blackmetal and #punk to #moviesoundtrack with #solfatare #tabularasa #BR%C3%85ND #NoFuture and #fabiofrizzi who took us on a trip down Zombi infested lanes and revisited the soundtracks of #luciofulci movies.
Went south to Brussels for #athousandlostcivilizations at #magasin4 Day one had #abysmaldescent #zulxaxeku #dikasterion #spiritpossession #Malthusian #deathworship and #deathhammer The festival offers 3 more days of extreme music ahead, with an even more eclectic mix tomorrow! #witchclubsatan announced a last minute gig at #occii We were going to spend a quiet Saturday night but thought hey why not go and enjoy some punk/folk infused feminist #blackmetal Out of respect for the coven, we have no photos to share. We will just say this was an eye opening experience.
When #immolation #marduk and #mayhem tour together, you know you are in for a treat. The NY #deathmetal veterans opened the evening with technicality and brutality. On the #blackmetal side, Marduk was unstoppable and Mayhem gifted us tunes covering all their repertoire, with flair and a well thought out mix of big screen video and theatrics.
A few days ago, we promised more #doommetal soon. This was correct yet not accurate. We crossed over to misty Amsterdam Noord to see #earthband play at #Tolhuistuin with Nataša Grujović & Steve Moore opening. As Steve Moore so eloquently put it, bands and crowd were there for the love of sound, the interaction of tones and songs that take us places. That was true from start to finish. While doom fans usually like Earth, they are so much more than doom. Thanks to all involved for the musical trip.
Doom over #dehellingutrecht courtesy of #aufhebung #Coltaine and #faetooth The female doom trio had played at last year’s Roadburn and we were keen to see them on stage again. This was satisfying, their fairy doom filled a gap in our soul. Openers Aufhebung and Coltaine were new to us, were both really enjoyable. More #doommetal soon.
We can’t have #gorefest but fortunately we can have #gorefunest Tonight at Soundville in #Rotterdami they delivered goosebump inducing covers of Gorefest classics. We never experienced the real thing unfortunately but this tribute was awesome. The Eindhoven insanity has become Rotterdam’s
First gig of 2026 at the #p60 down in #amstelveen We got there a bit late so missed the opening act but got to enjoy #hallsofoblivion #hate #arkona and #Patriarkh who played in the Netherlands last year. It was good to see them again with bands that are somewhat rare on this side of the continent.
